Sloooow site

Well, my site seems to be very, very slow if not completely unreachable (I haven't the patience to wait for it to load in any case) but I can't see any special problems on my server space. Some other servers are having problems, though. This would be the Spleenville server; Victory Soap is up and running.

And just before I decided to post this, Spleenville came up too. Never mind!

Slowdown of unknown origin

For some reason it's not showing up on the Nagios server monitor, but the Spleenville server is experiencing slowdowns. Half the time I can't get to my site. *grrr* how annoying.

Of course, just when I wanted to post something

The Spleenville server went into red alert. (The server monitor site really does use the Star Trek color alert system -- yellow to orange to red, red being the most serious. Though I can't remember now if Star Trek ever used "orange alert." Still.)

Anyway, when I get around to it, the blog post I wanted to put up is about this little number: all your economy are belong to us! Thanks, Obama voters. (Via Kathy Shaidle.)

(Also, I previously put this in the wrong Blogspot blog. I think that's my cue to turn off the computer for a while.)

Connection refused!

There's a 5-minute load time and "connection refused" problem on the Spleenville server.

Update: okay, it's back up.

Systems critical

Having some server problems today on Spleenville, so you may not be able to reach the site. I sure can't reach it.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to post my Monday status update. Well there went that idea.

Update: okay, everything is back to normal.

Secondary site server slow load times

Victory Soap, my secondary site, is experiencing slow load times. This really doesn't matter to anyone but me, as I don't have any current "public" blogs on that site, just my archived blogs from 2007 and 2008, and some test blogs.

Update: everything is back up.

Server Status Update #2 - 2 days late

Sorry folks, I've already forgotten my plan to update every Monday! Anyway, Spleenville is up, Victory Soap is down (5-minute load time). ETA 1:42 PM EST.

Updated 5:17PM - V-soap is back up, Spleenville is up.

Socket timeout

Spleenville's servers are not loading: there is a "Socket timeout after 10 seconds" message. Wait a few minutes -- these things usually get resolved in fifteen minutes or less.

I'll be off to a play soon, so I won't be able to post an update for a couple of hours.

6:21pm update: okay, I'm back, the site is up. Don't know when it up, but Hosting Matters is usually on the ball and gets the servers clear in a few minutes. In any case, no one sent me any irate emails.

Spleenville Weekly Server Status No. 1

This is something new. I figured I should have something up here more than cryptic, weeks-old cries of dismay about unreachable servers and so on. So every Monday (let's see if I remember) I'll post an announcement on the state of the and servers. And as of this moment they are both all clear.

Server down AGAIN

Why is it always when I'm trying to do something? Argh.

I forgot to add: and the server site doesn't show my server as being down -- I just can't reach my site, that's all. It's been doing that a lot lately -- I'll be unable to log in or even load my website, and I'll look at the server site and it won't say there's anything wrong for half an hour. *Inline update* -- Oh, now they have my server up as having socket timeouts and such. About time!

5:29 PM, it's finally back up.

Server down

Servers are down again. (Well, they're experiencing "critical socket timeouts" and "5-minute load times" and so on. But whatever that means, I can't get to the site.)

Update: okay, it's fine now.

Weird stuff going on.

Weird stuff is going on on my server. Strange folders with strange scripts appeared. I have emailed the support desk at Hostingmatters. Stay tuned!

Update: it was the Chinese. So that's the thanks I get for all the money I spent at Walmart... Anyway, to celebrate the matter being resolved, I have updated the theme for this site. Yays to the pretty!
